Executive Team


Rocky Romanella joined UniTek as Chief Executive Officer in July 2012 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in March 2013, bringing 36 years of management, operations and engineering experience to the company from his career at United Parcel Service (UPS).  Under his direction as President of Retail and Residential Operations, UPS successfully launched one of the largest re-branding initiatives in franchising history, revolutionizing the $9 billion retail shipping and business services market. He was responsible for the global strategy of all U.S. and international retail channels. As President and General Manager of UPS Supply Chain Solution’s Americas Region, Mr. Romanella was instrumental in leading UPS's entry into the healthcare industry while managing and integrating more than 20 acquisitions into the Supply Chain Solutions business. His responsibilities have also included overseeing nearly 72,000 employees throughout nine states.

Mr. Romanella has experience in all facets of the UPS business operations. For over three decades, he held various management positions including hub and package operations and industrial engineering. He led project teams on numerous special assignments to develop customer solutions tools and processes for improving operational efficiencies, and was instrumental in generating revenue growth for UPS Supply Chain Solutions in North and South America. While serving as Vice President of UPS's South California District, Mr. Romanella led the district to become the first in UPS history to reach $1 billion in annual revenue. He is a winner of the UPS Chairman's Award for Excellence. Mr. Romanella holds a Bachelor's Degree in Management from St. John's University.

Andrew Herning joined UniTek Global Services in June 2013, as Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Herning is an accomplished financial and operational executive who brings to UniTek a wealth of experience in financial controls and reporting, as well as strong relationships with the financial community. He has over 20 years of expertise in leadership, managing organizational change, process improvement and execution at fast-growing companies.

Mr. Herning held senior-level positions leading the finance function at both the business unit and corporate level at American Standard Brands, a multinational manufacturer of high quality building products with over 5,000 employees in North America.  He led initiatives to improve shareholder value, increase cash flow, integrate acquired companies, and strengthen business processes.  Earlier, he served as the Global Controller of American Standard Companies’ $2.4 billion bath and kitchen division. Prior to American Standard, Mr. Herning spent 11 years at KPMG LLP and Arthur Andersen LLP providing audit and advisory services to telecommunications and technology clients. He graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Accounting.

Don Gately joined the UniTek Global Services senior management team as Chief Operating Officer in December 2012. Mr. Gately was instrumental in expediting the integration of the Pinnacle and Nexlink business units and their subsequent rebranding as Pinnacle Wireless. He is responsible for the coordination of daily results in all operating divisions of UniTek Global Services and has instituted across the enterprise, processed-based management, organizational alignment and balanced scorecard measures to ensure operational excellence.

Prior to joining UniTek, Mr. Gately retired from a 35-year career at UPS. During his time at UPS, he held positions in all facets of the business including hub, preload, package operations and Industrial Engineering.  He also served UPS’s Canadian operations as Transportation Manager prior to being named Hub Division Manager in Upstate New York in 1990. After assignments in New York, New Jersey, Kentucky, and Kansas, Mr. Gately was promoted to Vice President in the South Illinois District, and then he served as the North Florida District Vice President in 2004. He became Central Florida District Vice President in 2006, and retired in 2010.

Mr. Gately holds a degree in Business Management to compliment his extensive operations and engineering experience. Additionally, he has dedicated his time and business expertise to community service organizations. In particular, he served on boards of directors for United Way and the Urban League.

Kathleen McCarthy joined UniTek Global Services in April 2013, as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Ms. McCarthy is an experienced General Counsel with a strong transactional, financial and telecommunications background, and 25 years of experience working in-house for publicly traded companies. She brings with her experience in general corporate and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission issues with a concentration in mergers and acquisitions, Human Resources, Finance, tax and complex capital investment structures.

Ms. McCarthy was previously a Legal Consultant to Vanguard Group in Malvern, PA, where she was responsible for advising on various international and domestic issues relating to Vanguard Group funds. She was also General Counsel for Ulticom, Inc., a telecom based in New Jersey, Counsel/Vice President of Legal for VFB LLC/Vlasic Foods International, Finance Counsel for BetzDearborn, Inc., and was a Vice President at Scott Paper Company. Ms. McCarthy also worked as an Associate at Dechert, LLP and was an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia. She is a graduate of New York University Law School where she received her Masters of Law (LLM) in Taxation and her Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree from Villanova Law School.

Minda McAllister joined UniTek Global Services as Chief Information Officer in March 2013. Ms. McAllister has over 20 years of experience in leading and managing multiple, concurrent, large-scale information technology projects from concept to deployment, as well as experience in negotiating and managing multi-million dollar contracts and third-party vendor relationships. She will lead the IT function by focusing on high quality customers.

Ms. McAllister was previously Vice President of Technology for a major franchisor, where she was responsible for project management, application development, data security, configuration management, IT procurement, technology operations, and the technology help desk.  For 11 years, she developed expertise in retail technology, where she led and managed the development and deployment of two generations of In-Center Network (Point-of-Sale (POS) and Back Office) platform to over 4,500 franchise locations, involving more than 12,000 systems and a data center.  She also brings 10 years of software development and delivery experience with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a Department of Defense contractor, where she developed solutions for the F/A-18 fighter jets, Apache attack helicopters, and other mission critical systems for military customers in the U.S. and Europe. Ms. McAllister is a certified Project Management Professional and holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego.

Dan Yannantuono came to DirectSat USA in 2006, with more than 12 years of executive management experience in the telecommunications industry. He has a proven track record in both financial and operational leadership. Before assuming his current role as President of DirectSat, Mr. Yannantuono served as Vice President of Operations for DirectSat's parent company, UniTek Global Services. Before joining the UniTek family, Mr. Yannantuono was Vice President of Finance for a major telecommunications services provider. During his tenure he led the due diligence and integrations of 13 acquisitions.

As one of the inaugural members of the executive team, Mr. Yannantuono has been instrumental in helping the company to become one of the largest fulfillment contractors in the satellite industry, with over 1,000 technicians nationwide.  Mr. Yannantuono received an undergraduate degree in Business Management and Finance from Florida Atlantic University and his MBA from Villanova University.

Richard Patton joined UniTek Global Services in August 2013 as President of Pinnacle Wireless USA, Inc. Mr. Patton’s has a wealth of of senior management and telecommunications experience, coupled with strong business, financial, technical and regulatory knowledge and operational expertise.

With over 20 years of experience in both senior level consulting and executive leadership positions, Mr. Patton’s history spans a variety of growth-stage companies, including high tech firms, along with government and commercial clients in the Data Networking, VoIP, Video and Maintenance arenas, as well as software / SAAS development. His experience in the telecommunications industry includes senior-level positions at Millivision Technologies (formerly Millivision, Inc.), EGlobe (formerly Trans Global Communications) and AT&T, where he served as a Division Manager for Carrier Wholesale Product Management and District Manager for both Wireless Carrier Offer Management and Personal Communications Services. Mr. Patton received both his Master of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickenson University. 

Stan Jones joined UniTek Global Services as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing in November 2012. He is responsible for the direction and management of all Sales and Business Development operations including competitiveness, compensation and channel strategy.

Mr. Jones began his career as a UPS delivery driver and accepted various positions of responsibility across the U.S. from Arizona to Massachusetts, Missouri, Texas and Southern California. He spent much of his 25-year career in various Sales and Marketing positions at UPS. Mr. Jones was Vice President of Sales and Marketing in the Southwest and Pacific Regions, and Director of Sales and Marketing in two UPS districts - Massachusetts and Missouri. He also held various district-level sales and marketing positions in Arizona and Southern Nevada.

To complement this experience, Mr. Jones served as Director of Operations in UPS's Southern California District. Most recently, he worked for Target Corporation as Executive Team Leader of their Logistics function.

Mr. Jones graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, and was a high school social studies teacher and baseball coach.

Shannon D. Schell joined our management team in November 2012 as Senior Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Schell's responsibilities include overseeing all engineering, logistics, fleet, facilities and project management activities for the organization.

Prior to joining UniTek, Mr. Schell was Chief Operations Officer (COO) for an online distributor and retailer of watches, apparel and accessories. He spent over 20 years as an operations and engineering executive with UPS, the world's largest package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain solutions. Mr. Schell held various management positions throughout his UPS career in multiple functions including Industrial Engineering, Operations, Logistics, Finance, Business Development and Technology Support. His success led to a series of promotions in various geographic areas including North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, New York City, Washington, DC and Florida. His most recent role at UPS was serving as Director of Engineering in Florida.

To compliment his business acumen, Mr. Schell earned his Bachelor's degree in Engineering Management from the University of North Dakota and his Master of Business Administration from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska

Carole Dalton Slover joined UniTek in July 2012, bringing with her over 20 years of Human Resources (HR) experience, including U.S. and international employment law, benefits negotiations, along with HR-related merger and acquisition activity. As a member of the senior management team, Ms. Slover is responsible for setting the strategic direction for programs and policies that align human resource initiatives with the organization’s business plans.  She is responsible for the company’s recruitment, talent management, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and rewards programs, benefits, corporate communications and HR legal compliance.

Prior to joining UniTek, Ms. Slover was instrumental in implementing global HR metrics and leading a significant reduction in attrition rates as Vice President of Human Resources for Yell Adworks, a global multi-media production organization. She holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Philadelphia University. Ms. Slover also holds the designation of SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) from the HR Certification Institute.
